San Diego Also Places in National Awards for Most Donations, Shared Rides
San Diego CA— Lyft, with a mission to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation, announced its fifth annual Lyftie Awards, a program that recognizes the most popular destinations in cities across the country. This year, the Lyfties expanded to celebrate more than 50 markets, including San Diego, and refreshed its categories to celebrate multimodal transportation and its driver communities.
The winners for the 2019 Lyftie Awards in San Diego are:
- Most Celebrated Venue: San Diego Convention Center
- Top Transit Stop: Old Town Station
- Late Night Neighborhood: Gaslamp Quarter
- Most Celebrated Restaurant/Bar: Urban Mo’s Bar & Grill
- Best San Diego City Advice from a Lyft Driver: Visit Barrio Logan and enjoy local microbrews at Thorn Street Brewing Company and Attitude Brewing Company, from local Driver Advisory Council Member Jason Sharpe
- Top Scooter Destination: Balboa Park
San Diego also landed in the Top 10 for Lyftie Awards’ National Most Generous category, with one of the highest donation amounts from the in-app Round Up & Donate feature, allowing users to round their fare up to the nearest dollar amount and donate to a local charity.
In addition, San Diego placed in the Top 10 Cities that Share the Ride, meaning the region ranked highly for total number of shared rides, a win for sustainability and riders’ fares. San Diego Lyft driver Aliaksandr Dziamentsyeu was named Commuter Champion for most rides during local commute hours.
“Lyft believes in improving the lives of our communities and this year, we’re proud to celebrate the businesses, drivers and different modes of transportation that make each of our cities special,” said Lyft Southern California General Manager Hao Meng. “We know that the backbone of our communities rely on people and ways they’re connected to thrive. We look forward to championing San Diego’s winners for the fifth year in a row and providing reliable, affordable transportation.”
