San Diego County CA— SANDAG is hosting a series of 45-minute webinars to discuss the 5 Big Moves. These strategies set the framework for a bold new transportation vision for San Diego Forward: The 2021 Regional Plan, which will enhance connectivity, increase safety and sustainability, and improve quality of life in the San Diego region.
The 2021 Regional Plan will synchronize the 5 Big Moves – Complete Corridors, Transit Leap, Mobility Hubs, Flexible Fleets, and Next Operating System (OS) – to deliver an integrated, world class transportation system.
The next webinar will focus on Clean Transportation: Wednesday, October 23, 2019 @ 12 p.m. PDT.
Industry expert guest speakers will discuss how electric vehicles (EVs) and zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) are playing a major role in how countries, states, and local governments plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve local air quality, and reduce petroleum dependence.
Learn how clean transportation programs, policies, and incentives such as fleet electrification and deployment of a regional electric vehicle charging network support the 5 Big Moves and complement other transformations in the transportation sector.

Susan oversees development of the SANDAG $30 million Regional Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive program and is the SANDAG subject matter expert on energy and clean transportation issues. Since joining SANDAG in 2006, Susan developed the energy planning program in support of regional approaches to saving energy, reducing petroleum dependence, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. Susan has managed the SANDAG Energy Working Group and numerous planning efforts including regional readiness planning for EVs and alternative fuels, and a utility-local government partnership with San Diego Gas & Electric. She is the first female Chair of the San Diego Regional Clean Cities Coalition. Prior to joining SANDAG, Susan led energy policy efforts for the San Diego Regional Energy Office (now the Center for Sustainable Energy), and spent six years in Washington, D.C. addressing federal and multi-state energy and clean air policies at the Northeast-Midwest Institute and Alliance to Save Energy.
Dr. Daniel Sperling holds the transportation seat on the California Air Resources Board and served as Chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies in 2015 – 2016. Among his many prizes are the 2018 Roy W. Crum award from TRB, its highest research award, and the 2013 Blue Planet Prize from the Asahi Glass Foundation Prize for being “a pioneer in opening up new fields of study to create more efficient, low-carbon, and environmentally beneficial transportation systems.” He served twice as lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (sharing the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize), testified 8 times to the US Congress, and provided 20 keynote presentations in the past year. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 technical papers and 13 books, is a regular contributor to Forbes and Wall Street Journal, is widely cited in leading newspapers, been interviewed many times on NPR radio, and in 2009 was featured on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Kyle is the subject matter expert on Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) technology and infrastructure for MTS, and directly oversees the MTS $12 million Zero Emission Pilot Project. Since his appointment to ZEB specialist in April 2019, Kyle has taken the lead on MTS Battery Electric Bus initiatives ensuring MTS remained ahead of the December 2018, California Air Resources Board (CARB) ruling for transit agencies to transition to 100% Zero Emission Buses by 2040. Kyle has a Master’s Degree in City Planning with emphasis in Sustainability/Transportation. Kyle is the board alternate on the San Diego Clean Cities Coalition committee representing MTS as well as alternate on the California Transit Association’s ZEB task force.
