Google and the USO aim to empower the military and veteran community with tools and resources for economic opportunity

Camp Pendleton CA—- Google and the USO will host a free ‘Grow with Google’ workshop for transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses at Camp Pendleton on August 23rd. Congressman Mike Levin will be on hand to meet attendees.
‘Grow with Google’ is the tech company’s initiative which aims to create economic opportunity in communities across the United States by providing free tools and trainings designed to help people find the jobs they want, advance their careers, and grow their businesses.
Google employee and veteran, James Durago, and USO Camp Pendleton center director, Ann Jarvis will be available for in studio interviews (pre and post event) to discuss the importance of supporting the military community with trainings and transition resources. Post event, we will distribute a press release and assets for consideration.
Background: In August of last year, Google.org gave a $2.5 million grant to the USO to provide training and career guidance for transitioning service members, military spouses, and veterans. As a continuation of our commitment to the USO, this workshop will focus on free Google tools and resources to enhance the job search experience for the military community. Presenters will cover subjects like how to use a military occupation code (MOS, AFSC, NEC or rating) to find civilian jobs and ways to pinpoint remote work options for military spouses. Veteran and Google employee, James Durago, will lead the workshop. James co-leads the Google Veteran’s Network, which aims to solve challenges in the veterans community with Google products and recruit top veteran talent.
