San Diego CA— The annual Pride 5K Run and Walk will take place on Saturday, July 13. A great way to kick off San Diego’s LGBTQ Pride is by participating in the annual walk and run Pride 5K which raises money for The Center’s Youth Housing Project and San Diego Pride Community Grants. The Pride 5K has committed nearly $40,000 to these organizations thanks to the participation of our fabulous runners and walkers.
Start the day off with a warm up led by a Lululemon Ambassador. Next runners and walkers follow the parade route at 8 a.m. starting at University Ave. and Centre St. and will run Westbound on University Ave to Balboa Park and back to the starting gates.
The theme of this years Pride festivities is “A Legacy of Liberation” honoring the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a moment in history where the LGBTQ community banned together to fight back against police brutality and legal oppression.
San Diego has multiple events over the course of Pride week including the Pride Rally, Parade and Festival, check them out at sdpride.org/events.
