San Diego County CA— Volunteers of America Southwest (VOASW), a nonprofit, faith-based organization with a mission to change the lives of vulnerable individuals by providing services and tools to improve their quality of life, partnered with The Vinyl Draft Sports Bar, a classic rock themed sports bar in Pacific Beach, for a Day of Giving on Friday, May 31, 2019.
VOASW’s charitable event was featured on 101.5 KGB FM during Coe in the Afternoon. The event raised about $1,800 and will benefit Volunteers of America Southwest’s Hawley Veterans Services Center, to help homeless veterans with disabilities achieve self-reliance.
The Hawley Veterans Services Center is a transitional housing program for homeless veterans with mental health diagnoses. This transitional housing program extends 20 beds to single male veterans who are homeless and are moving toward permanent housing. Veterans can reside in the program for approximately 90 days as they wait for their permanent housing opportunities to become available. Veterans receive intensive support to help them find housing.
