Oceanside CA— This morning, June 6, 2019 at 10:58, Oceanside Police units were dispatched to the area of SR-76 and Frazee Road in reference to a body floating in a marsh/lagoon located behind the Towne Center North Shopping Center. The pond is surrounded by SR-76, Town Center Drive and Frazee Rd.
The reporting party was a vector control pilot who was dropping pesticide in the area when he observed the body floating. The area where the body was floating, was inaccessible by foot. The UAS Team was requested and responded to the scene to assist. A drone was deployed over the marsh/lagoon and officers were able to confirm that there was a deceased subject floating in the water.
Oceanside Fire Department Lifeguards were called to the scene to help with the retrieval of the body from the water.
Based on the appearance of the body, it may have been in the water for at least a couple of weeks.
Officers have not been able to identify the victim and will have to wait for identification by the San Diego Medical Examiners Office.
