Oceanside CA— Just before 2:30pm on Wednesday May 29, 2019, Firefighters from Oceanside and Camp Pendleton responded to reports of a vegetation fire in the area of Benet Road and SR-76. When crews arrived they found a 30’ x 30’ vegetation fire with slow rate of spread.
The fire had accessibility challenges but the E217 crew advanced a progressive hose lay, assisted by Oceanside E213 and Camp Pendleton 8633 and was able to achieve knockdown on the fire by 2:45pm. E217 remained on scene an additional twenty-minutes (approximately) to overhaul the scene.
There were no injuries to any firefighters on this incident. There was evidence to support that this was a homeless encampment, however no one was found on scene.
