San Diego CA— The San Diego SeaLions and Legacy Laces recently announced they have partnered on a cleat drive to help underserved kids and teens obtain the gear they need to participate in team sports. The SeaLions will host Legacy Laces for a cleat drive at their back-to-back home games on June 15th and June 16th at Cathedral Catholic High School.
“The SeaLions’ mission is to help people get involved with soccer in the community and there’s no better way than to partner with Legacy Laces,” says Lu Snyder, President of the club. “We are especially excited to support an organization founded by a fellow women’s soccer player whose passion for the game has given rise to this amazing nonprofit to help others get involved in team sports!”
All fans attending the game as well as members of the local community are encouraged to donate game-ready (i.e., no rips, holes, tears or excessive wear) cleats at the Cleat Drive on June 15th and/or June 16th. Turf and futsal shoes are also welcome. Donors are invited to visit the Legacy Laces website at www.LegacyLaces.org to download a notecard they can use to share a short note with the future recipient of their shoes.
“It’s very exciting to be partners with the San Diego SeaLions! Their support means a great deal to us and we are looking forward to a successful cleat drive involving their fans and the community at large”, said Jeanette Wood, Executive Director of Legacy Laces. “Playing team sports helps kids and teens in so many ways and the more barriers to participation we can remove, the better!”
