Oceanside CA— The Oceanside High School Theatre Department proudly presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which opens on May 24 at the Oceanside High School Performing Arts Center, located 1 Pirates Cove Way, Oceanside. Sheryl Roccoforte, Director, Leah Ritt Music Director, Claudia Dyson-Hightower, Choreographer, and Zaire Oros, Student Director.
In the fictitious small town of Putnam, an eclectic group of six kids are competing for the spelling bee of a lifetime! While candidly disclosing funny and touching stories from their personal lives, the tweens vie for spelling champion, hoping never hear the crushing “ding” of the bell which signals a mistake. Six spellers enter; only one will win.
Director, Roccoforte proudly stated, “We are excited to be working on the first musical ever to be put on the stage of Oceanside High School’s new, state-of-the-art theater.
The show, which was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Musical, features catchy and hummable tunes, audience participation, and funny dialogue, and is relatable to anyone who has ever attended middle school.”
Performance dates are May 24th & 25th at 7pm. Students and Children are $8; Adults are $10.
