Oceanside CA— U.S. Representative of the 49th District, Mike Levin, toured Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) on April 17th, just after he held an official opening for his district office in Oceanside. Levin and Kyle Krahel, Deputy District Director, met with Jodi Diamond, CEO, and Board members Jennifer Kreml, Robert Botkin, Tom Garcia and Tori Fishinger to discuss ways they can work together to help youth in Oceanside succeed.
Founded in 1952, BGCO has grown exponentially in the last 11 years, from one Club serving 200 youth to 9 sites serving 1,400 youth daily. During Levin’s visit, Diamond discussed the even greater reach that the new Center for Innovation will have on the teen population in Oceanside.
Representative Levin toured the Center for Innovation, which include a Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen, Performing Arts Center and STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Math) Lab. The mentorship and innovative programming that the Center for Innovation will provide is vital to ensuring BGCO’s vision– that every member graduates from high school on time with a plan for the future.
During the visit, they also discussed BGCO’s proximity to Camp Pendleton and the large number of military connected youth they serve.
“We were honored to host Representative Mike Levin and his team. We look forward to partnering with him to improve the lives of youth in our community,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside.
