Oceanside CA— At approximately 9:53, Monday night, April 1, 2019, Oceanside Fire Department units responded to the 400 block of S. Brooks Street for a reported structure fire in an apartment building.
The first engine arrived six minutes after the dispatch and reported a fire in the garage below an apartment building. After extending hose line to the involved garage, the firefighters discovered a vehicle on fire inside the garage.
Additional personnel proceeded to search the apartment building above the involved garage for fire extension and clear the building of residents.
With an aggressive attack of the fire, the first-in engine company was able to contain the fire to the involved garage approximately five minutes after arrival on scene. This quick action likely prevented the residents of the building from being displaced.
There were no firefighter injuries on this incident. An exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
