Oceanside CA— This morning, February 24, 2019, at approximately 09:46 am., Oceanside Fire Department units responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of S. Ditmar Street.
The first engine arrived four minutes after dispatch and reported smoke coming from a small apartment building. Upon entry into the involved unit, firefighters discovered a fire in one of the bedrooms. Firefighters pulled hose into the involved unit to establish a primary search and fire control. Additional units proceeded to search adjacent units for extension and clear the building of all residents. After an aggressive attack on the fire, the first-in engine company was able to contain the fire to the original room and contents.
The quick work of the firefighters likely prevented the other residents of the building from being displaced.
One of the residents, of the involved unit, suffered minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital.
There were no firefighter injuries on this incident. An exact cause of the fire and damage estimate are unknown at this time.
The Carlsbad Fire Department provided mutual aid for this incident.
