San Diego CA— Crews will complete temporary metal and wooden structures, also known as falsework, to support the construction of the Trolley overpass spanning Interstate 5 (I-5) at Voigt Drive during an overnight closure on Thursday.
Beginning tomorrow night, December 13, to Friday morning, December 14, all northbound lanes of I-5 from La Jolla Village Drive to Genesee Avenue will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Motorists should plan to take alternate routes to avoid congestion, as significant delays are expected during this closure. Closure schedules are subject to change.
The Mid-Coast Trolley Project will extend Blue Line Trolley service from Old Town north to the University City community, serving major activity centers such as Mission Bay Park, the VA Medical Center, UC San Diego, and Westfield UTC. Nine new stations will be constructed. Major construction work began in 2016, with service anticipated to begin in 2021.
