San Diego County CA— The certified final results of the November 6. 2018 were posted Thursday, December 6 by the San Diego County Registrar of Votes. There were 1,173,924 ballots cast in the county with a 66.4% voter turnout.
In Oceanside, Esther Sanchez (4,137 votes-36.36%) narrowly defeated Deputy Mayor Chuck Lowery (3,808-33.47%). In District 2, Christopher Rodriguez (5,610 votes) defeated Dana Corso (3,449) and former Oceanside City-Council member/Mayor, Terry Johnson (1,941). The swearing in ceremony for Christopher Rodriguez and Esther Sanchez will take place Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Oceanside City Council Chambers.
In Carlsbad, Matt Hall won re-election as Mayor. Barbara Hamilton (4,130 votes) won the District 1 City-council seat and Priya Bhat-Patel (6,572 votes) defeated Corrine Busta (6,302) in District 3.
In Oceanside, Measure Y that would require a majority vote of the people of Oceanside to authorize rezoning open-space, park or agricultural land to other uses, such as commercial or dense housing failed with 32,228 No votes to 28,729 Yes votes while Measure X, a half-cent sales tax increase, passed with 34,133 voting Yes to 27,166 No votes.
