Encinitas CA– Late this morning, June 24, 2018 just after 11:30 AM, a motorcyclist was traveling northbound on South Coast Highway 101 from W. D
Street in Encinitas. Witnesses reported the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a Deputy was traveling southbound on South Coast Highway 101 and began a left turning moving in the 300 block.

The motorcyclist collided with the rear passenger side door of the Deputy’s patrol vehicle. Life saving measures were rendered immediately, however the motorcyclist passed away at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Traffic Reconstruction Team (STAR) is investigating the collision. If anyone witnessed or has information about this collision, please contact Deputy Arnold at 760-691-9770.
