Oceanside CA— At approximately 7:00 pm. Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018, Oceanside Fire Department units responded to a report of a commercial fire with multiple vehicles on fire at the intersection of Washington Ave. and Tremont St., in Oceanside.
E211 and RA211 arrived first approximately 5 minutes from being dispatched and found multiple vehicles on fire in an outside lot at the reported address. With several well involved vehicles on fire and difficult access to enter the property, fire crews quickly advanced hose lines to extinguish the fire and minimized further damage. Additional crews arrived to support the first arriving units in a defensive strategy to contain the fire, protect exposures (additional vehicles) and prevent further spread of the fire.
The fire was brought under control approximately 7 minutes after the first units arrived at the scene. Because it was reported to be a fire in a commercial building, additional resources were added. These units were released early and the alarm was handled by the first three engine companies, one rescue ambulance, a battalion chief and fire investigator.
This property was a storage lot for vehicles waiting to be repaired. Customer cars parked on the lot are being notified by the property owner. No victims were found at the scene and the investigation is being completed by Oceanside Fire Department to find out what happened.
Total damage has yet to be determined due to the unforeseen damage to multiple vehicles being stored on site.
