ENCINITAS: Learn gardening with Solana Center

ENCINITAS — The city of Encinitas offers a four-Saturday course gardening, starting Jan. 17. The course, called Gardening 101: Grow Your Own Food, is for you. is sponsored by the city and runs four Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, 137 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas. Topics include garden design, soil, seed starting, irrigation, building beds, harvesting, and managing pests and insects. Cost is $40. City residents have priority registration and can sign up for the course by calling 760-436-7986, ext. 222, or going online to www.solanacenter.org.
