Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad City Library will host health and wellness lectures designed to help participants learn new skills and information for a better quality of life for themselves and their loved one. The weekly lectures are held Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. beginning April 10. All lectures are free and take place at Carlsbad City Library’s Schulman Auditorium, located 1775 Dove Lane.
April 10 – Sleep, Light and Your Health – Dr. Philip Goscienski
Join a fascinating discussion about sleep, light and the problems that can arise from a lack thereof. Dr. Goscienski is the former head of the pediatric infectious diseases branch at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego and former clinical professor of pediatrics at the UCSD School of Medicine.
April 17 – The True Mediterranean Diet – Dr. Philip Goscienski
Find out why people from the Mediterranean are healthy, long lived and slender, in spite of a diet that is 40% fat.
April 25 – How the Computer Affects Your Health and Brain – Dr. Philip Goscienski
We can hardly remember a world without computers. Learn how to avoid the physical and the mental consequences of use and overuse of computers.
May 1 – Ten Steps to Avoid Cancer – Dr. Philip Goscienski
Cancer is a leading cause of death in Americans, second only to heart disease. Following these ten steps is simple and will add to your overall good health.
May 8 – Prepare to Parent Your Parent – Sally McGraw
What do adults need to know as they assume the role of caring for aging parents? This presentation will provide insights on starting this important journey and the steps to navigating legal, medical and healthcare issues for a loved one.
May 15 – The Psychology of How We Eat – Dr. Bart Billings
Have you ever tried to lose weight, only to gain it back? Would you like to have a better relationship with food and finally take control of your eating behaviors?
