Encinitas CA— Last night, December 21, 2017, just before 10:30pm deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian near the 2500 block of S. Coast Highway 101.
The driver was proceeding northbound on S. Coast Highway 101 and struck a 35-year-old male causing life threatening injuries. The victim was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark colored clothing as he ran eastbound across the dark highway. Fire and paramedic personnel provided first aid before transporting the victim to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla.
The driver, a 27-year-old female, remained at the scene and was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Due to the victim’s traumatic injuries, a Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
