San Diego CA— As craft breweries throughout San Diego experiment with seasonal releases, one Point Loma brewery has something hazy up its sleeve. Today, Wednesday, November 22, Bay City Brewing Co. will release Martin Scorehazy — the latest creation in its hazy beer series.
At 6.6 percent alcohol by volume, the fifth addition to Bay City Brewing Co.’s hazy craze bodes a flavor profile different from its four predecessors. Head Brewer Chris West combines the lime and peach flavors created by the Conan yeast with the pine and passion fruit characteristics from the Vic Secret hops. West also uses El Dorado hops, which contribute to the stone fruit notes in Martin Scorehazy.
“Martin Scorehazy is slightly less dominant in tropical flavors from our last hazy beer, Haze Against the Machine,” says West. “We are excited to use Vic Secret hops in this beer because it seems to be a less overpowering hop, bringing some fun flavors to the table.”
Popularized by brewers in the state of Vermont, the Conan yeast strain produces a hazy beer known as a New England IPA. In Bay City Brewing Co.’s hazy beer series, each beer released contains a one-of-a-kind flavor profile to highlight how different hops work with this Conan strain.
Bay City Brewing Co. guests can enjoy Martin Scorehazy in the Point Loma tasting room or take it home in growlers and crowlers. Previous hazy beer releases include:
- Fog on the Bay
- Murky Was the Case
- In My Younger Haze
- Haze Against the Machine
Known informally as the “I-saw-you-from-the-freeway” brewery, Bay City Brewing Co. has found its home off Hancock Street in an industrial nook of Point Loma where everyone is welcome to enjoy its hazy brews and laid-back, indoor-outdoor tasting room.
