Oceanside CA— Two females, one in her 30’s and one in her 40’s, were walking on the Del Mar Jetty when a large wave broke over the jetty and sent both women tumbling down the rocks and into the water.
A full “Ocean Rescue” response was initiated and included personnel from the Oceanside Lifeguards, Oceanside Fire Department, and Oceanside Police Department with mutual aid provided by Camp Pendleton Lifeguards. Lifeguards and Police responded on a rescue boat and were able to locate the two women on the rocks on the east side of the Del Mar Jetty.
Lifeguards were able to extricate both victims onto the rescue boat and they were transported to Oceanside Paramedics waiting nearby. One victim was transported to Scripps La Jolla for additional treatment.
The rescue was a success and lifeguards sustained only minor injuries from the rock jetty. Currently, there is no update on the condition of the victim that was transported to the hospital.
The Oceanside Lifeguards would like to remind the public to obey all posted warning signs, especially during times of large surf or inclement weather.
