San Diego County CA— On Tuesday, crews began the work of removing trees located within the Mid-Coast Trolley project area and Caltrans right-of-way along northbound I-5, north of the Gilman Drive/La Jolla Colony Drive on-ramp.
This work will require traffic controls, including closure of a portion of the road shoulder. The work is anticipated to be ongoing through late 2017. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some night work may be required to complete this work. Night work hours are Monday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Upon completion of construction, trees and other types of vegetation will be replanted along I-5 and at other locations.
Once complete, the Mid-Coast Trolley project will extend Blue Line service from Old Town to the University City community, serving the VA Medical Center, UC San Diego, and the busy commercial and residential districts along Genesee Avenue. Major construction work began in 2016, with service anticipated to begin in 2021.
