San Diego County CA— Cabrillo Credit Union raised a record $47,000 to benefit Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, during a month-long fundraising campaign in May.
“In our 21 years of fundraising for Rady Children’s, this has been our biggest year yet,” said Anne McClure, Cabrillo’s Chief of Staff. “Last year was a record year for Cabrillo, when we raised $40,000. This year our goal was $44,000. In the end, we raised more than $47,000!”
Each May, credit unions around the country collectively raise funds for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through an initiative aptly named the Miracle Month of May. Cabrillo Credit Union was again the largest fundraiser for Rady Children’s Hospital, among more than a dozen credit unions in San Diego County, including many that are much larger than Cabrillo.
Cabrillo raised more than $31,000 through the sale of paper balloons to members and vendors. In addition, Cabrillo employees held department sponsored events and a silent auction, raising an additional $6,000.
Cabrillo Credit Union also received a $10,000 grant from CO-OP Financial Services through their Miracle Match program.
“We are so appreciative of the support our members, vendors and staff showed, to help this great cause.” said McClure. “We also appreciate the generosity of CO-OP Financial Services.”
