Suspect believed responsible for starting the fire in custody on unrelated charge.
Oceanside CA— The vegetation fire [link] along Douglas Drive in northeastern Oceanside that began Tuesday afternoon has been mapped at 85 acres. Of this, 78 acres are in Oceanside and seven (7) acres are on Camp Pendleton.
Crews remain on scene mopping up hot spots. It is anticipated the fire will be 100% contained at 6:00pm this evening.
Crews will return tomorrow morning to conduct additional patrols of the fire area and determine if additional work is needed.
The individual suspected of starting the fire, Jose Torres, is currently being detained by the Oceanside Police Department on an unrelated warrant. The investigation into the fire’s cause will continue while he is in custody.
