EVERY Day is National Philanthropy Day in San Diego
Call for Nominations Open till May 31
San Diego County CA— The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) San Diego Chapter is looking for a few good San Diegans. Each November, AFP celebrates National Philanthropy Day celebration by recognizing the critical role philanthropy plays in our society and honors those who make the greatest difference in strengthening our community.
The community is invited to nominate an individual or company that has made a positive impact on our community by their donation of time, talent or treasure. A focus on leadership, impact and inclusion will guide this year’s selections.
“Important work is being done every day across the region, including in Imperial County and Tijuana. We are looking for those stories. We want to honor the people, businesses and nonprofits devoting their energy behind-the-scenes, every day, to contribute to a vibrant and thriving region,” said Andrea Muir, CFRE, AFP San Diego President. The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) San Diego Chapter was recently named a 2017 Ten Star Chapter based on performance and membership size.

This year’s event will celebrate the diversity of our region while reinforcing the message that Every Day is National Philanthropy Day. San Diegans are encouraged to share their philanthropic moments online and use the hashtag @ #welivephilanthropy
Honorees will be selected by a volunteer committee chaired by Neville Billimoria, Mission Federal Credit Union, and honored at a celebration at Copley Symphony Hall at the Jacobs Music Center.
“A Symphony of Philanthropy is a positive metaphor for San Diego’s philanthropic community. Every grant, every gift, every hour we invest, every need we fill, every heart we touch, every life we improve- each adds up for the greater good. We are all instrumental in this effort but when we play symphonically our impact is transformation,” explained Neville Billimoria, NPD Honorary Chair.
This year’s National Philanthropy Day offers the community an opportunity to connect with young people that are changing their communities, and adults that have devoted their life to serving others. Proceeds go to scholarships and monthly educational workshops to build our capacity and improve outcomes right here in our region.
