Encinitas CA— On Monday morning, March 20, 2017, at 6:32 a.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of Leucadia Boulevard and Town Center Place, in the City of Encinitas.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 61-year-old female driver was traveling westbound on Leucadia Boulevard, and failed to stop for the red signal at the intersection of Town Center Place. A 61-year-old male pedestrian was crossing northbound on Leucadia Boulevard in the crosswalk and was struck by the driver’s vehicle.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries to his right leg and was transported to Scripps La Jolla Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
