The Escondido Public Library marks National Library Week, April 13-19, with a special city proclamation April 9, the library recently announced.
Escondido Mayor Sam Abed will issue a National Library Week Proclamation on April 9 at the City Council’s meeting. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway in downtown Escondido.
The library is also participating in the community reading project “One Book, One San Diego,” sponsored by KPBS, according to the announcement. The selected book for the project is expected to be named in mid-May.
“Service to Escondido’s community and access to information have always been our focus.” said Cynthia Smith, deputy city librarian, said in the announcement. “Our Library is continually evolving to keep up with how people access information and use technology. In a sometimes overwhelming, information-rich age, Escondido’s librarians offer patrons expert help to reach accurate information quickly. Librarians are a valuable resource and National Library Week highlights their service.”
