Oceanside CA— Thanks to a record crowd at last month’s annual Diamond Ball, Tri-City Hospital Foundation raised over $700,000 for Tri-City Medical Center to support its Women and Infant Services Department where more than 200 babies are born each month. The evening gala was held on November 12 at Carlsbad’s Omni La Costa Resort & Spa and featured dinner, dancing and nearly a full hour of laughs courtesy of legendary comedian Jay Leno.
Leno did not disappoint the sold-out crowd of 900 attendees. Leno’s broad appeal hit attendees in the funny bone and pulled at their heartstrings—a winning combination that encouraged charitable giving. And the famous funnyman also supported Tri-City Hospital Foundation by donating tours of his world renowned car collection and garage during the evening’s auction. Other items included a Harley-Davidson provided by Biggs Harley-Davidson and a Guy Takayama surfboard auctioned off by the local surf legend himself.
“This Diamond Ball was one of the most memorable fundraising events in the Foundation’s history,” said Glen Newhart, President of Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “Some of that is thanks to laughs we had with Jay Leno headlining our event. However, the incredible generosity of our attendees is what stands out to me, proving North County’s residents are willing to donate to causes important to their community.”
The gala also provided a wonderful opportunity to honor the Tri-City Emergency Medical Group with the 2016 Legacy Award for their unwavering philanthropic support of the Foundation and their care and devotion to the Tri-City community. Since their founding, Tri-City Emergency Medical Group has donated more than $500,000 to the Foundation in support of Tri-City Medical Center.
While the Diamond Ball was a resounding success, the Foundation fundraises year-round for Tri-City Medical Center and is already planning its next event, Havana Nights, a casino fundraiser planned for May 20, 2017. Tri-City Hospital Foundation has a variety of options for donors looking to contribute toward keeping quality medical care in our community.
