Oceanside CA— The “Top Gun” house has a fresh coat of paint thanks to the people at ‘The Osider Magazine‘ and Larry Keast, who volunteered his painting skills and time, to return the home to the blue color it had when it was part the 1986 blockbuster film, ‘Top Gun’.
The house, located on the northeast corner of Pacific Street and Seagaze Dr., was repainted yellow in 2014.”We wanted to give the locals a chance to see the house the way it was in the movie before it gets moved and incorporated into the new hotel project,” said Jamey Stone, Publisher and co-Founder of The Osider Magazine. “We would see tourist looking at the house but not recognizing it painted yellow. We’ve been wanting to do it for a while but it’s ironic we ended up doing on Pearl Harbor Day.”
The home, which was built in 1887 as the summer home for Dr. Henry Graves, will be moved from its original location to another site on the property, restored with the hotel being built around it.
“I’ve been doing this a long time but this is something pretty special for me,” said Larry Keast, owner of Larry Keast Painting. “I grew up here and have been coming by for years but this is the first time in a long time that I’ve been able to get this close to it again.”
Local Tap House and Kitchen provided lunch, short rib empanadas and homemade cheddar biscuits, for the crew working on the house.
