Vista CA— The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the autopsy related to a suspicious death in Vista. Just before noon on November 18, 2016, deputies from the Sheriff’s Vista Station responded to a 9-1-1 call of a possible assault with a deadly weapon at 1045 La Rueda Road in the unincorporated area of Vista.
When deputies arrived, they were directed to a motorhome which was parked near the rear of the La Rueda Road property. Deputies entered the motorhome and found a white female adult, identified as Vista resident, Donna Hixon, 49 years of age, deceased inside.
The cause of death has been determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiners Office to be strangulation and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail have identified the suspect as forty-two-year-old Vista resident Nathan Rivera, the boyfriend of Donna Hixon.
Rivera is currently in custody at the Vista Detention Facility on other charges. He has a pending re-book for a single count of murder.
