Mission Branch and Other Oceanside Library Facilities to Remain Open
Oceanside CA— Starting Monday, October 31, the Civic Center Library, at 330 North Coast Highway in Downtown Oceanside, will temporarily close for improvements. It may partly re-open to the public as soon as late November, and is planned to fully re-open no later than January.
There will be limited access to the Civic Center Community Rooms and the adjoining courtyard. The Oceanside Public Library’s Mission Branch, mobile libraries, and Oceanside READS Literacy Center will not be affected; and the Library’s e-books and online services will remain available 24/7. Please visit www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call (760) 435-5600 for updated information.
Oceanside Civic Center Library opened in January 1990, and had its first interior remodeling done in 2010-11, at the same time transferring all computer services from the Community Computer Center on North Nevada Street.
In the 2016 project, per an agreement following questions raised in 2011, all carpet will be replaced by the manufacturer, at no further cost to the City. Taking advantage of moving shelves for the carpet work, Oceanside City Council approved $280,000 to replace the original wooden shelving, now wearing out, with steel shelves featuring wood trim.
Some popular books and other items for checkout will be transferred to Mission Branch (3861-B Mission Avenue), which is open Monday – Wednesday 10-7, Thursday – Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 1-5.
There will be no interruption to staff answering the (760) 435-5600 phone, so the public can call anytime during regular hours with questions. Announcements will be made and posted at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org as soon as re-opening information is available. The Library thanks the Oceanside community for their patience and understanding.
