Oceanside CA— A sold-out crowd gathered at the Civic Center for Afternoon Tea at the Plaza, a fundraiser put on by The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library, with the support of the Library and local business and community groups.
The menu for the afternoon included traditional Cucumber sandwiches, Downton Abbey egg salad sandwiches along with roasted grapes topped with mock Devonshire cream and thin chocolate leaves or Pecan Date mini pies for dessert.
The theme for the event was ‘The Language of Flowers’ and Kristie Hawthorne, with the Oceanside Historical Society and Oceanside Chamber of Commerce provided a brief history of Oceanside’s long love affair with flowers. Entertainment was provided by CiCi Porter on guitar and Elaine Swann, host of KOCT’s Spectrum, was a guest judge for the hat contest.
All proceeds from the Tea, as well as all other fundraising efforts made by the Friends, support Oceanside Public Library programs and resources.
