Carlsbad CA— On Wednesday, October 19th, please join Happy Hour Politics to hear Frank Merchat, MiraCosta Board of Trustees, address Proposition MM on the November ballot. Prop MM includes $2 billion in general obligation bonds for California Community College facilities.
MiraCosta College is an important asset to North County residents. Mr. Merchat’s presentation will address the improvements needed to continue to provide a quality education to our local community. The bond would raise funds to update facilities such as the Veterans Center, career training areas and labs, instructional technology, and science centers. Additionally, repairs or replacements would be made to leaky roofs, restrooms, plumbing and electrical systems. Improvements would also be made to improve access for students with disabilities.
Mr. Merchat was appointed to the Board of Trustees in April 2015. Prior to his appointment, he served for five years on the MiraCosta College Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Merchat was raised in Los Angeles and attended San Diego State University. He graduated number one in finance in 1977 and started his corporate career in the computer industry working for IBM as a team leader with some of its largest customers, and as a product marketing consultant on IBM’s most profitable product.
