Oceanside CA— The 2016 Oceanside Scholarship Pageant, sponsored by the Oceanside Sea Lions Club, was held last night, April 23, 2016 at the James Truax Performing Arts Center on the campus of El Camino High School. Two titles were awarded; Miss Teen Oceanside and Miss Oceanside with the queens and princesses becoming goodwill ambassadors for the City of Oceanside, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and the Oceanside Sea Lions and appear at various community and charity events throughout the year.
There were three phases of competition, Saturday night; the ‘Theme wear’ competition, the ‘Evening Gown’ competition and the final contestant interview on stage.
Ten girls competed for the title of Miss Teen Oceanside with Caitlin Guiao winning the title for 2016. Filling her court are Miss Teen Oceanside Princesses; Whitney Hay, Raquel Parizeau and Kristalina Banuelos.
Also competing were; Jennifer Jimenez, Samantha Morales, Floya Waddell, Lauren Bell, Yocelyn Hernandez and Tessa Stapp.
The new Miss Oceanside for 2016 is Breana Banuelos. Joining Miss Banuelos in her court are Miss Oceanside Princesses; Kaitlyn Jonasson, Alicia Cacho, Iris Pena.
Also competing for the Miss Oceanside Crown were; Sarah Holloway, Brianna Ford, Erin Rippinge, Melody Vivar and Ashley Keller.
Prizes for the winners included cash scholarships, with donations from the Oceanside Sea Lions Club, Pam Pahnke, Zucette Lumbas, Gloria Wadell, Doris Williams and Richard Stevens. Gift certificates from local individuals and businesses were also provided to the winners.
The Master of Ceremonies for the night was Brian Graham. Judges were; Erica Smalley, Karen Korbacher, Rein Hanson, Tracey Perrault, Mark Labella, Ben Galven, Lauryn Moses, Tenia Bentley, Sonia Hebert and Janell Vesci.
