Oceanside CA— The San Diego coastal rail corridor will experience a major closure on the weekend of April 9 and 10. There will be no COASTER or Amtrak Rail 2 Rail service this weekend due to infrastructure improvements.
This closure comes in addition to the previously planned weekend closure of March 5-6 and the upcoming closure of March 19-20. SANDAG will continue construction in April on the Los Peñasquitos Lagoon Bridges Replacement Project.
Should adverse weather conditions cause delays in construction on the upcoming weekend closures, April 30-May 1 is planned as a potential backup weekend for additional work. North County Transit District will advise the public if this potential additional closure is needed.
During the closure, there will be no replacement bus service connecting COASTER stations. Alternatives for some COASTER passengers may include BREEZE Route 101 or MTS connections. Amtrak connecting bus service will require Amtrak reservations.
Coastal rail service will re-open for regularly scheduled service in time for the Monday morning commute. Please note that trains may be delayed up to ten minutes on each Monday following the closures.
Customers are urged to plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements. For more information on these closures, please contact NCTD Customer Service at 760-966-6500, or visit GoNCTD.com.
