Carlsbad CA— Late this morning, February 26 at 11:59 a.m. the Carlsbad Police Department received a telephone call from the U.S. Bank located, 7730 El Camino Real near the intersection of El Camino Real and La Costa Avenue advising of a robbery that just occurred.
Carlsbad Police Officers immediately responded to the area and attempted to locate the suspect. The suspect was described as a white, male, 40 to 60 years of age, about 5’6”-5’8”, with a thin build. The suspect was also described as wearing a baseball cap, black rimmed glasses and a plaid flannel shirt. The suspect passed a demand note to the bank teller who provided the suspect with an unknown amount of cash. The suspect fled the bank on foot and no vehicle was seen.
The suspect matches the description of a bank robbery that occurred in Encinitas about 1 hour prior. The Carlsbad Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating.

In the Encinitas incident, just before 10:30am, an unidentified white male adult entered the Bank of America branch at 1340 Encinitas Blvd..The suspect presented a demand note to one of the tellers. The suspect was nervous and impatient. Before the teller was able to give the suspect any money, he became frustrated and exited the bank. He was seen driving away in a black late model sport utility vehicle, but his direction of travel was unknown after leaving the bank parking lot.
Bank of America staff is cooperating with the investigation, as are surrounding businesses that may have surveillance video. Agents from the FBI responded and took over the follow up investigation.
