San Diego County CA— A high surf warning has been issued for the San Diego County beaches and a High Surf Advisory for the Orange County beaches. The high surf warning remains in effect until 5:00 pm PST Tuesday.
A large long-period west-northwest swell will bring high surf of 7 to 15 feet to southern California beaches through Tuesday.
The highest surf will be in southern San Diego County and northern Orange County. The swell and surf will gradually diminish Tuesday through Wednesday.
Surf, building to 5 to 8 feet this morning, then peaking this evening through Monday at 8 to 12 feet with sets to 15 feet.
Gradually lowering surf Tuesday with sets of 5 to 9 feet. The highest surf will be south of Carlsbad.
Highest tides, 5.6 feet Monday at 4:15 am and 6 feet Tuesday at 5:15 am.
Dangerous swimming conditions due to large waves and strong rip currents. waves over-topping jetties, minor coastal flooding during high tide, beach erosion,and damage to piers are also possible.
A high surf warning indicates that dangerous, battering waves with at least local sets to 15 feet will impact local beaches. This will result in very dangerous swimming conditions and rip currents.
