Vista CA— Friday night October 2, 2015 at approximately 10:14pm a 65 year-old male from Vista was crossing South Santa Fe Ave near Palmyra Drive approximately 200 ft from the crosswalk (north to south) when he was struck by a red Chevrolet Prism traveling eastbound on South Santa Fe at an unknown speed. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and left the vehicle on Estrelita Drive near the scene of the collision. Officers recovered the vehicle took it as evidence.
Officers have leads on who the hit and run driver is and are working on tracking him down.
After the initial collision it appears the at the pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle described as a white or silver colored sedan possibly a Toyota that may have damage to its front
bumper. This vehicle also fled the scene.
Unfortunately, the 6S year old male died at the scene and at the time of this release no one has been taken into custody. If anyone witnessed or has information in to this collision they are

At this time it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in this collision.
