Rincon CA— The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians is once again hosting Oceanside Harbor Days, Sept 26-27, at the Oceanside Harbor. The tribe, which contributed to last year’s event, as well as sponsoring media support and musical entertainment for the city’s 2014 Earth Day Fair, has a historic as well as community interest in Oceanside.
“Luiseño villages once dotted the San Luis Rey River from Mt. Palomar to the Oceanside Harbor. Our ancestors were the earliest inhabitants in the area, plus we were the first drawn to the Pacific Ocean for recreation, food, and travel. Contributing to support events in Oceanside is like contributing to our ancestors and continuing a connection with the region,” said Bo Mazzetti, chairman of the Rincon Band.
The tribe contributed $3,000 to the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, sponsors of the event, which features arts and craft exhibits, great food, and fun activities for the entire family. The event is free to the public and open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Two event filled days of sun, sand, and surf provide an outstanding opportunity for residents and neighbors to experience fun activities including the new Sandcastle competition, Entertainment Stage, Arts, Crafts and Food booth areas, Nail ‘n’ Sail Competition, Military, Public Safety displays, and more.
