Carlsbad CA— Early this morning, August 29, 2015, at 6:40 a.m., officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to a traffic collision between a sedan and a motorcycle on Las Flores Drive at the intersection of Interstate 5.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcyclist had exited the I-5 southbound off ramp to Las Flores Drive and collided with the sedan that was traveling eastbound on Las Flores Drive. All parties remained on scene. The cause of the collision is under investigation and alcohol does appear to be a factor.
The motorcyclist was Nathan Pilgrim a 31-year-old male who resides in Oceanside. The passenger on the motorcycle was Stefani Wilson a 27-year-old female from Carlsbad. Both Pilgrim and Wilson were transported to Scripps La Jolla with major injuries. The driver of the sedan was Gustavo Martinez a 29-year-old male from Arizona. He sustained minor injuries.
Las Flores Drive from Jefferson Street to the I-5 freeway was closed from the time of the collision until 9:30 a.m. All roadways are now re-opened.
