Carlsbad CA— On August 19, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. the City of Carlsbad Police Department is inviting the community to stop by and have a cup of coffee and a little casual conversation with local police officers. This is the inaugural Coffee with a Cop event for the Carlsbad PD.
The international program called “Coffee with a Cop” was launched in 2011 by the Hawthorne Police Department. In four short years Coffee with a Cop has traveled to 2,000 communities in 48 states. In 2014, the first international Coffee with a Cop was held in Montreal, Canada. See more about the program at www.coffeewithacop.com.
“What makes this program such a success is the simple idea of inviting community members to sit down with their local police officers over coffee, outside a crisis situation, and have a casual conversation,” said Interim Police Chief Neil Gallucci. “There are no event agendas. Just the opportunity hang out, ask questions, discuss community matters and ultimately continue to build the necessary police/community bonds.”
The first Coffee with a Cop event will be held on Wednesday, August 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Starbucks located 7130 Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad.
