Carlsbad CA— Join Carlsbad Republican Women on August 25th to hear Encinitas Mayor, Kristin Gaspar, address “Priorities and Politics: Beware of a ‘Balanced Budget’.”
In November 2014, Kristin Gaspar became the first directly elected Mayor of the City of Encinitas! Previously, the position had shifted between the five city council members annually. Kristin was elected to the city council in 2010 as the council’s youngest member, and served as the deputy mayor in 2011 and 2012.
A respected local professional, Kristin has encouraged civic involvement and community connections throughout her career. A native of the Encinitas area, she studied at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Broadcast Journalism and graduated as a dean’s list scholar in 2002. Then appointed chief financial officer (CFO) and business manager with Gaspar Physical Therapy, Kristin Gaspar immediately encouraged programming that empowered employees and strengthened connections with local residents.
As past president of the Encinitas Rotary Club, Kristin actively promoted participation among the organization’s 90-strong membership. In recognition of these efforts, which resulted in increased member involvement in the city and a rise in donations to local organizations, the city proclaimed July 1, 2009, as Kristin D. Gaspar Day. Since that time, she has remained active in a number of Rotary Club leadership positions and as a continuing participant in fundraising programs and community events across the city.
