Mobile Emissions Team Makes Stops in Oceanside
August 8, 2013
Oceanside CA- The California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR) , mobile smog check team makes a stop in Oceanside. The team, with assistance from the CHP, stopped random vehicles in the 3200 block of Mission Ave for voluntary Smog Checks. The emissions checks are part of a survey, the state conducts, to monitor the performance of the California Smog Check program.
Drivers stopped at the checkpoint were informed that the voluntary inspection was to gather data for the State of California. There is no consequence to the drivers participation, regardless of the vehicle’s performance during the test.
Mike Piercy with BAR, said the emission test takes about 10 minutes while the mobile test center takes about an hour to set up. The BAR team travels the state, setting up shop in a different zip code, every day. Drivers are not provided with a copy of the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) but team members will alert drivers of any mechanical issues they observe during the test.
