Dinner paired with Award-Winning Wine and Beer-Saturday, June 6 in the Fair’s Flower & Garden Show

Buy your ticket now to the Farm to Table Dinner, a garden affair featuring five courses (First Flavor, Greens, Fowl, Farm, Sweet) paired with award-winning wine and beer, at this year’s San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons│VONS. Chef Barry Schneider, executive chef for the Fairgrounds and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, and participating farmers will walk you through each pairing in this exclusive dining experience on June 6, from 4:30 – 7 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person; purchase online at www.sdfair.com/envirofair.
To some, the “movement” of delivering locally-grown fresh food becoming more of the norm. Many restauranteurs receive local, organic products from their Farmers’ Markets and distributors for use in their seasonal menu options. This practice keeps agriculture sustainable and offers the opportunity for community-supported agriculture to occur. According to the USDA, “members” or “share-holders” of a farm or garden – or group of local producers – pay for and “eat seasonally and regionally” to help cover costs of the farm’s operation. For their contributions, members receive shares in the farm’s bounty throughout the growing season, which results in fresh options for all to enjoy.
Farming and agriculture are central to the mission of the 22nd District Agricultural Association of the State of California. Delivering a farm-to-fork experience is not only exciting, but it should prove to be delicious and nutritious.

Local Encinitas flower growers, Dramm & Echter, will be providing blooms for all of the tables, and San Diego’s own Bottles & Wood, will be providing beautiful recycled vases and platters from their selection of repurposed glass and wood goods.
Balboa Park’s organist Dr. Carol Williams, San Diego Civic Organist and Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society will play musical entertainment as guests arrive and enjoy their organic feast.
