Oceanside CA— Last night April 18th, 2015 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a 29 year old White female adult contacted the Oceanside Police Department to report she had just gotten into a physical altercation with her 28 year-old Hispanic male adult boyfriend.
The physical altercation escalated when the womans boyfriend pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her. The two subjects began fighting over the gun, which she was able to take away from him. She then went into a bathroom with the gun, locked the door, and dialed 911. The two subjects reside together in the 1600 block of Broadway Street in a 4 unit type apartment.
Oceanside Police Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter at the residence. Officers contacted the woman and were able to get her to exit the residence. The male subject refused to come out and made threats to: shoot at Officers, shoot at a police vehicle if the Officers did not turn off a spot light, and stated that if Officers approached his residence that this would not end well.
The male subject told Officers he had an AR-15 assault rifle in his possession. The male subject’s girlfriend told Officers she was only aware of his being in possession of a shotgun and a semi-automatic handgun.
Officers evacuated the immediate area and began communicating with the man trying to get him to come out of the residence. He continuously made threats towards Officers and refused to comply with their requests.
The Oceanside Police Department SWAT and CNT Teams responded to the scene. A detachment from the Carlsbad Police Department SWAT Team also responded to the scene to assist.
After several hours of trying to negotiate with the male subject, he was taken into custody without incident when the stand-off ended approximately 1:10 am.
A search of the residence was conducted and a Remington 870 shotgun and Glock 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun were seized and taken into custody.
The male subject was later booked into the Vista Detention Facility for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and domestic battery.
