San Marcos CA— On Sunday night at approximately 8:36 PM, San Diego County Sheriff Deputy Moreno was driving westbound on Borden Road, when he saw that a vehicle had rolled over and was on its roof south of the road in a dirt field. Deputy Moreno walked up to the vehicle and noticed that it was empty.
As Deputy Moreno walked around the collision scene, it was discovered that the driver and front passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The San Marcos Fire Department and San Marcos Paramedics
responded to the scene and treated the driver and front passenger for their injuries.
The 23-year-old driver and 24-year-old male passenger were transported to the Palomar Medical Center Trauma Unit for treatment of their injuries.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the gray Toyota 4-Runner, driven by a 23-year-old male, was heading westbound on Borden Road at a high rate of speed.
The driver approached the curve in the road too fast, which caused the 4-Runner to roll several times while ejecting the driver and front passenger out of the vehicle.
The driver and front passenger of the Toyota 4-Runner both suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Preliminary investigation of the collision also revealed that alcohol and Marijuana may have contributed to the cause of the incident.
The collision investigation is being conducted by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, San Marcos Traffic Unit.
