Oceanside CA— On Wednesday, California Governor Jerry Brown issued an executive order mandating a 25% reduction in water use across the state.
With the state experiencing a fourth consecutive dry year and snowpack levels at a record low, it is critical that we prepare for the future and a possible fifth year of drought.
The Water Utilities Department is in the process of reviewing the details of the governor’s order and will be doing everything possible to help our region comply with these new mandates. Specific details on how the order will affect us directly will be coming in the next couple of weeks, and by late April we expect to have a better indication of what our water supplies in southern California will be.
What can be done now is adherence to current regulations that are in place to eliminate water waste and improve water efficiencies.
Meeting this unprecedented mandatory water reduction will mean that all residents and businesses do their part by reducing water use in every way possible.
