Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division has a new permit requirement for instructors who want to teach a type of commercial or professional instruction business on the City’s beaches and in all City parks. Commercial Operators include but are not limited to: boot camps, surf camps, private surf instruction, fitness classes, day camps, yoga classes, nature camps or other similar activities.
Instructors must now complete a Special Operations Permit in order to be considered for providing a commercial or professional instruction service on public property. Please visit the City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation website: www.oceansiderec.com, Special Events section, and print and complete the “Special Operations Permit.” The annual permit is $175 and good for the calendar year in which the permit is issued.
The purpose of the permit application process is to provide City staff an opportunity to review the Commercial Operator’s proposed plan for its impacts to the general public’ s regular use and enjoyment of the facility as well as maintenance and operations. The proposed activities potential impacts to parking, other scheduled City program s and/ or events, other scheduled field use, size of group, time of day, day of week, number of days and location will also be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Beginning Monday, March 23, 2015, applications may be submitted to Parks & Recreation Administration in City Hall-East either in person, via mail or fax. The mailing address is 300 North Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA 92054. The fax number is (760) 435-9628.
Parks and Recreation will review the application and then the applicant will be required to obtain a business license. In addition, the applicant must provide a $1 million certificate of liability insurance listing the City of Oceanside as additionally insured and complete a participant waiver that indemnifies and holds harmless the City of Oceanside.
