Authorities are investigating the Nov. 8 death of a pedestrian on the railroad tracks in the 1400 block of South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas.

The pedestrian was struck by a southbound Coaster train at about 6 p.m., according to a Sheriff’s Department statement. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the death. Authorities have not yet released a name or description of the victim.
