Carlsbad, Oceanside community members sign up to learn best biking practices
Oceanside CA— As the San Diego area becomes an increasingly bike-friendly region the demand for bicycle education and safety grows. The Bike Coalition provides free and frequent trainings for people of all ages and abilities to teach bicyclists to take proper precautions anytime they pedal.
The County’s Bicycle advocacy organization, the San Diego County Bike Coalition, kicks off 2015 with four North County bicycle rides and trainings to give residents the education and practice necessary to feel comfortable sharing the road. Instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists will guide riders of all ages through:
- Safety tips for riding in traffic
- Techniques for navigating road hazards
- Emergency maneuvers
- Using public transit
- Proper bike and helmet fit
- Flat tire repair
- Minor and quick bicycle fixes
- Legal responsibilities and rights
